Our Story
Sanctum.
Latin sanctum, meaning "a sacred place"
In all the ways that we as humans interact with things or places in ways they become transformed into the ‘sacred’ - with our connection, our energy, intentionality, and interaction. This is a sacred place in the way it means to be sacred for each individual human to visit, interact, explore, hold, or just be in this space in their own way.
In a globally connected world with a wealth of special, intimate, contemporary, unique, and impactful items, this place aims to connect people with something that brings a little sacred moment into being. A shift away from the commercialised consumer experience, our collections focus on the core of human creativity, expressed often in thing-ness through objects, but with intent for finding value in the purpose of these objects, and connection with the people who made them.
Studio.
Italian term studio, meaning “a place for study or work"
Throughout time, the studio or working space has been the haven for creative outputs across disciplines. Studio is a sense of place, of purpose, and of course, creation, also often conceptualised as a sacred place for those connected with their craft/discipline. For us, the studio is a place of lived ritual, deeply connected with practice, the act of making, and objects, whether a physical or inner place.
Boutique.
from the French word boutique, meaning "shop" or "store."
In France, the term “Boutique” historically referred to a small shop selling specialised goods, often crafted or curated with care.
Our Collections are curated by living artists, selected with care and intention. Our showcase supports and connects with local living artists working in Australia in order to help build a sustainable arts network.
